The Elizabeth & Richard Wilson Charitable Trust was set up in 2006 as a result of the Will of Richard Wilson of Warton, near Carnforth in Lancashire and is named in memory of him and his sister.
The Trust is managed by a board of trustees and the income is available to be distributed as grants to organisations or individuals in Lancaster, Morecambe, Carnforth and surrounding rural areas.
The Trust has a number of objectives and can distribute grants for the following purposes, set out in Richard Wilson’s Will.:
· To support under 18s through scholarships, bursaries, maintenance allowances etc.
· To help young people develop their physical, mental & spiritual capacities
· To further to the objectives of the Scout Association & Guide Association or any other charitable youth organization
· To further the religious and charitable work of the Church of England & Methodist Church
· To enable Parish Churches & Methodist Chapels to be kept in good order & repair
The Fund also distributes a proportion of its income to:
· Warton Parish Church for the upkeep of the graveyard
· Warton Methodist Chapel
· Warton Parish Council for educational grants
